In the tippy top of Northeast Illinois, 12-24 inches of snow has to fall before school is canceled which is crazy because there has to be a foot or more for the school to cancel. Around different areas of Illinois, the school cancelations due to snowfall can vary from any snow to 24 inches of snow.

If the temperature with windchill feels like -30, schools are forced to closed. some schools, on the other hand, may close when it feels like -10 with windchill because some students walk to school or have to wait outside for the bus.
